Trash to treasure with paint!
Trash to treasure with paint!

Hey there, fellow DIY crafters! Get ready to be inspired, because today, I'm sharing a project that truly embodies "one person's trash is another's treasure." I stumbled upon an old desk on the side of the road, and while some might see junk, I saw potential! With a little creativity and some incredible Dixie Belle Paint products, I've transformed that single desk into a stunning pair of boho-chic end tables.

The Transformation Journey

This project started with a bang – I literally broke that old desk apart! My vision was to create two individual end tables, and since this was a free roadside find,

I wasn't afraid to get hands-on. I even decided to paint right over the original handles for a seamless, updated look. Cleaning with Terra Clean and adding new backs as well. Filling in holes and imperfections with Mud. Dabbing on the textured paint to get a rough and rustic vibe!

The original desk had some wear and tear from ripping it apart, so I cleverly added scrap wood to the sides of my new end tables to cover up any damages. I used a nail gun to simply add the panels. For the tops, I opted for new wood, giving them a fresh, clean surface. I stained these tops with Dixie Belle's No Pain Gel Stain in Espresso, which gave them a rich, deep finish. After staining, I sealed the tops with Dixie Belle Clear Coat for durable protection.

Now, for the fun part – the base! I wanted a textured, blended look, and my go-to for this is Terra Clay Paint. This paint is a dream to work with; it's easy to blend and naturally creates amazing texture. I used a beautiful combination of Desert Tan, Moon Beam, and Prairie Dawn to achieve a soft, earthy blend. To add to that relaxed, boho vibe, I even used a sprayer with water to create intentional drips and runs – embrace the imperfections! Need a video of the process? Click here!

To add an extra touch of flair, I applied the Birchwood Stencil to the sides of the tables using a rich chocolate color. This delicate detail really elevated the design and tied the whole bohemian look together. Sealed with Terra Tuff and added shine with Gilding Wax.

I'm absolutely thrilled with how these end tables turned out. It just goes to show that with a little imagination and the right products, you can turn forgotten items into true treasures for your home.

Don't be afraid to try new things and experiment with your DIY projects – the results can be truly amazing!
